So you think it’s hot?
Try playing basketball on hot pavement in the middle of an Arizona Summer.
Despite the 115 degree temperature outside, Local Phoenix Promoters, Rappers, and Street ball Players, gathered in the name of unity for charity in the “Above the Rim” basketball tournament brought to you by ILiveHipHop.com.
Music was provided by DJ John Blaze and the Emcee for the day was local favorite “MC Bear”. A waterslide was provided for the kids that some grown folks had to take advantage of too as well as the “bazooka water gun posse” who helped to keep everyone somewhat cool and in good spirits; definitely the entertainment was enjoyed by all.
The heat was at a record high for the day but it did not stop the participants nor the spectators and the many donations of cases of water and clothing that filled a Salvation Army truck to be distributed to the homeless. I guess it was like if there are people out there in the streets living and surviving in the heat, we can tough it out for one day and try to help them get through it.
There were many popular locally “ known names “ in the Hip Hop community that were in attendance and a part of the success and although it is not for certain who actually won the game, it was bigger than that. It was about the love and unity and the coming together for a good cause. As stated by “Yungface” CEO and Owner of ILiveHipHop.Com,” I was happy with the turnout even though the heat was in full force, the community was stronger.”

This was a great event for the community. While I wasn’t able to attend, I’m told that it was a success and look forward to attending next year!
